Cornus alba Nightfall

Height: 0,8–1 m

This variety of dogwood has the darkest leaves. Its foliage is green in spring, gradually darkens over the summer, and turns blackish burgundy in autumn. Its branches are red from autumn, so it is decorative in winter too. It can reach 1.5-2 m in height and 1.5 m in width. Its small white flowers bloom in early summer, in May-June. When winter comes, it will adorn your garden with its reddish branches. The advantage of pruning is that strong, fresh, bright coral-red shoots will always grow back. It needs a sunny or partially shaded spot, with nutrient-rich, well-structured soil. Its water needs are moderate. It is a strong shrub, with branches partly pointing upward, so it can be planted as a standalone plant, as a hedge or in combination with other plants.
